Scott
Lingamfelter, Republican incumbent, has developed a
reputation as a pro-life leader with a conservative voting record. His pro-family rating was 100% in ’03. He
voted to repeal the “death tax,” voted against the Sales Tax increase
referenda, and he favors revenue-neutral revisions to the Tax Code. He voted to allow our national motto “In
God We Trust” in public buildings, and to increase penalties for child porn.
He voted for parental consent before a minor’s abortion, for a ban on partial
birh abortions, for higher health and safety standards in abortion clinics,
to stop taxpayer funds to Planned Parenthood, against increasing state
regulation of private and home schoolers, and for school choice scholarships
for low income students. He pledges to oppose tax increases. He favors limiting growth of spending to
inflation plus population growth, 2nd Amendment rights, reducing
the family tax burden, and he opposes the gay agenda and taxpayer funding of
abortions. For more information, see
his Issues Survey response and his website under
Issues. David Brickley, the Democrat challenger, is a former Delegate
whose pro-family ratings were 29% in ’95 and 42% in ’97. He voted against increasing Virginia’s low
personal income tax exemption to compensate for inflation, against providing
liability insurance for teachers, and for charter schools. He voted for a ban on partial birth
abortions, but against parental notification before a minor’s abortion,
against a casino gambling referendum, to ban same-sex marriages, to prohibit
child custody by gays, to require parental consent for a minor’s drug
treatment, and against making it a crime to knowingly assist another person
to commit suicide. Details regarding
his positions on tax increases, transportation funding, property tax limits,
2nd Amendment rights, education issues, Tax Code revisions and
other key family impact issues are not readily available. Waiting for his Issues Survey
response. To send a reminder Email to
