Melanie Rapp, the Republican incumbent, is regarded as a pro-life, conservative. She voted to repeal the “death tax,” voted
against the Sales Tax increase referenda, voted to stop taxpayer funding for
Planned Parenthood, to allow our national motto “In God We Trust” in public
buildings, and to increase penalties for child porn. She voted for parental
consent before a minor’s abortion, for a ban on partial birh abortions, and
for school choice scholarships for low income students. She pledges to oppose
tax increases. For rmore info, see
her Issues Survey response.
Philip
Forgit, the Democrat challenger, favors higher
spending on public education, on the environment, on mental health, investment
in the business community, pay raises for firemen and new firefightling
equipment. He promises accountable transportation projects delivered on time
and on budget, and he proposes higher taxes.
No details as to how he will achieve these goals, or cost figures, are
provided for voters on his website. He has not returned his Issues Survey response. Vote smart. Call the candidates with questions on
