With limited volunteer help, we are covering all of the 58 contested General Assembly races in the Nov. 4, 2003 General Elections in Virginia. (Ten Delegates and three Senators are retiring this year.) Volunteer help also enabled us to offer voter information for all the primary legislative races this past May and June. (This website was launched on May 2, 2003.) Volunteers are essential to this voter education effort.
Q: What kinds of information do you
need?
A: We need:
(Information should be sent in electronic form. Usually, it's easiest to send in an Email, or send as a link in an Email. You can also fax articles to us, but a link to an online article is preferred. Information must be factual and from a verifiable source.)
Q: What about candidates' ideas on
solving local area problems?
A: Yes. Whether it be traffic gridlock in Northern Virginia or Tidewater,
soaring property taxes, major job losses and unemployment in Southside --
or statewide problems, such as massive college tuition increases -- we welcome
and will post proposed solutions from candidates (not over 2 pages) as a
service to voters. This is a win-win opportunity for both candidates
and voters.
Q: Do
I need to be an expert or have prior experience?
A: No. Just willingness
to do some local research. Party affiliation doesn't matter as this is a
non-partisan voter education effort.
Q: Where
do you need volunteers?
A: In all regions of Virginia
Q:
Any travel involved?
A: No. You can collect most, if not all, of the information we need on the
phone, Internet, or by scanning newspapers.
Q: How do I volunteer?
A: Click
here to send us an Email. In the Email, please list your name, town
and county, and phone number. Tell us what Delegate and / or Senate
district(s) you can cover (one or more) and your main newspaper source.
We'll call you
back to discuss any details.
